I just realized that the two Japanese keys do not work as expected (c860, SharpROM):
"kata/hira" does nothing
"kigou" brings up a symbol table as expected
"zen/han" toggles between Romaji/Hiragana (!)
"kanji" toggles between Romaji/Hiragana
Makes three variants doing the wrong thing...
I guess that's not as it is supposed to be, Any hints how to change to correct (or at least expected) behaviour?

"kata/hira" only works when you are inside Japanese input mode. So when you switch into the hiragana input, pressing this button will toggle you between hiragana and the half-width katakana mode.
likewise "zen/han", which only works when you are in katakana input mode, this will toggle between full-width and half-width katakana characters.

Thanks for your reply.
It's exactly as you describe. However, input methods seem to depend on the application. Within the terminal (where I played around in the first place) for instance it is not possible to switch to Katakana mode. Hiragana mode is possible but ignored, i.e. input is still Romaji.
But what about "kanji"? I would expect that button to fire up the CRIM. Well then, I installed other input method which might have overwritten the default behaviour? If so, how to reset it?
