my z is dynamism converted. and i can't find two most important keys for \ and `.
the \ which is above F is mapped to the Japanese yen and i just can't seem to find any key that can enter a ` as in DATE=`date +%y/%d`
i have written to dynamism but haven't seen a reply yet. in the meanwhile, if any folks who know, i would appreciate your sharing the trick here.

The yen symbol is \, it's just that for some reason Japanese fonts and encodings replace \ with yen.
In DOS in Japanese directories are seperated by Yen symbols rather than \ but its actually the same character - if you change fonts you should see \.
The ` mark is there somewhere, sorry cant remember the hard key combo, but you can get it using the onscreen keyboard - the Japanese layout has ` as Shift+@, as the Shift on the virtual keyboard is a toggle hit it and @ should change to `.
You could also use keyhelper to map this to a key combo to make it easier to type if you use it alot

stu, you rock! shift+@ indeed produces ` :-)
can you please also tell me how to change the font so that \ can be displayed instead of the yen sign?
thanks a mill!

Depends on what terminal app you are using, I suggest Qkonsole as it uses all of the fonts on your sytem, while qpe-terminal uses a hardcoded list.
Both qpe-terminal and qkonsole have a pull down selection list from the menubar - qkonsole also allows you to select the font size too

Hey Stu,
Do you happen to know if QKonsole will work on the 6K?
Thanks,
