Title: Right Shift Key
Post by: b2bpro on December 09, 2003, 09:52:18 pm
I\'m running OZ 3.3.5 and I notice that the right shift key doesn\'t shift. (Works fine with Sharp Rom).

Has this been re-mapped for something?

I\'m hoping it is a bug, and not that they remapped it... I can\'t imagine what they would remap it to that would make more sense??  It seems silly to me, as that key wasn\'t abnormally placed, or never used...

I\'ve been doing a lot of hacking trying to get things installed so I\'ve been type \"QtPalmtop\" a lot.  Needless to say, I\'ve been typing Shift-Q a lot using the left shift key.

I have OZ 3.3.5 and for me the key shifts OK. There is some additional mapping, however, and it\'s flaky. Try the following:

1. open Opie Sheet
2. tap on a cell
3. press & release the right Shift

The File menu will gain focus. This would indicate that the key is mapped as Alt or the Menu button. It behaves the same way in Text Editor but not in Konsole. So it\'s not consistent.

Furthermore, if you try the trick in Opie Sheet when editing a cell in-place, it tends to segfault Opie Sheet (in 3.3.5-rc1 it would crash always).

That right shift Alt-like behaviour is in the Sharp ROMs too. The German Sharp ROMs might be a bit different though.

The Konsole has always been inconsistent, but I think that is largely because of the way in which the Unix/Linux terminal is considered to work. All other applications should be consistent.

On the CL-860 Is there a way to map the right shift key under oe_3.5.2/opie so that it actually works as a shift key?

Not having the right shift key work on my CL-860 is one of the more annoying features in 3.5.1/3.5.2/opie.

Note that on my SL-5500 and oe_3.5.2/opie the right shift key works like a champ. So maybe this is an issue with the CL-xxx models.

Where can I find the ipk file for opie sheet? Does anyone have a copy or a better alternative app?

on my c760 right shift works like shift (checked in console and text editor in opie).

put attachment as /etc/kaymap-2.6.map and restart - this is current keymap.

These are rather old releases now.

It worked in 3.5.3 afair, I'd upgrade to that or preferably to 3.5.4RC.
