probably a stupid question but google turned up jack. On my 5500 I was going to upgrade to openzaurus but when I went to mv the files over to mnt/cf like the instructions say to I get a read only file system error.
Little help please

You may need to su to root if you're trying to copy from the command line I suppose.
Otherwise the card may have not been unmounted cleanly.
Do (as root):
umount /mnt/cf
fsck /dev/hda1
mount /mnt/cf
and then try again.

tried it no luck says forced unmount of null failed:(

Look at the output of 'mount', it may not be mounted anyway.
If it is, then try:
umount /dev/hda1

I get the same thing and I looked cf is mounted. I'm using the latest rom from sharp could that have anything to do with this? Is there anyway to do a boot: linux single?
-
You can boot to a console by rebooting then pressing the /? button as the 5 second countdown is happening.
It might be worth rebooting anyway (back to Qtopia) to see whether you can do the umount afterwards - for example using the taskbar icon (which performs a umount)

I can't belive this......even that didn't work
I'm thinking about trying to down grade to an older rom image and see if that gets me through this.
-
The fs is probably corrupt anyway so just take the card out without umounting it.
Your Z may complain, reboot it (without card in), then stick the card back in and see whether it is mounted, if it is try umounting it again, run fsck, etc.
I'm afraid that's about my last idea, bar using a card reader in a PC to do the job?

P.S.
I'm thinking about trying to down grade to an older rom image and see if that gets me through this.
:-D if you can do this then you can also go to OZ surely?

Dammit, its the cf card all this and the card is toast.
