Title: Sharp Music Player 1.01
Post by: omega on July 08, 2004, 08:13:16 am
I've been looking around, particularly at all the posts Tony Olsen made about this. I want to play ogg files on my Cacko 1.21b...   I have libvorbisdec and it works grand with Kino2 so why is there a problem?

When i click on an ogg file it opens musicplayer, but music player doesn't see the file only the mp3 ones....

I apologise for asking, as this seems to have been discussed in great detail, but not actually being solved without using a different program.  thanks.

If you are running the Cacko QT ROM it will work 'out of the box', if you then try and install other versions of vorbis over the top you will probably break it.  I did it once and had to reflash.

Ensure also you are using the right music player, the actual program name is mpegplayer (it can also play MPEG videos - poorly)

The Sharp Media Player on the standard Sharp ROMs requires the Vorbis Termor plugin:

http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=617 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=617)

Normally it shows any files associated with the media player via mime types, which oggs must be associated with to open the media player. So it's a bit strange that they're not appearing at all, but maybe because you have not got the plugin it is not showing them.

This is in reference to the Cacko QT ROM 1.21b on the C series machines, installing another vorbis over the top will probably break it.

Well it depends on what you mean, the nice snazzy player that is default on a new Japanese 860 doesn't play oggs at all, in fact, I remove it because I can't stand having unused software glaring at me, that player is there on the Cacko ROM of course but if anyone had that playing anything other than mp3, I'll eat my hat.     The other music player on the Cacko QT ROM is the Media Player from the SL-6000 (which looks like the one from the 5500's) with the ogg decoder included, that was a severely ugly program until a kind sir made it pretty, I use that as I predominantly use oggs with my audio remote, works a treat.

mmh, I'm in the mood for music now, where's my iPod (EEEEK!!) I mean zPod

I like 'padish' although it probably means something derogatory somewhere

you're not wearing a hat in your photo, and i wouldn't want you to go to the trouble of finding one to eat.

8-)   Got my oggs playing... in XMMS running under X/QT

When i installed the xmms-tremor plugin it installed to /usr/lib/xmms/input/...   and that was probably fine if i have to install the pdaxrom xmms. However, i installed the one from the xqt feed and it doesn't look there...

moving the plugin to /opt/qtpalmtop/lib/xmms/input solved it! ;-)
