Can the Zaurus record movies with the camera attachment like some other digital cameras?
Most digital cameras can however only record a few seconds worth. Would there be any hardware obstacles in creating a way for the Zaurus to become a fully fledged camcorder ?
-
No hardware obstacles except that you need a good CF camera card. The Sharp camera is attached via a serial interface which is only capable of doing around a couple of frames per seconds. You would need a faster camera card with linux drivers.

With a 6000, you could attach a USB webcam.

Very good. My 6000 is underway, I might be tempted to add v4l API to opie-camera then...

Actually it was a very generous donation from one person out of this community. I will use this device to improve the Opie experience on the SL6000. Especially - since you all know I'm a wireless dude - I will optimize Wellenreiter II and opie-camera for the 6000.

How about wireless webcams?
They should then work with any zaurus with a wifi card.
You can then also use it as a security camera, or a baby monitor.
+ many other possibilities.
Some of them offer a web front end too, so integration may only be a matter of starting up your favorite browser.

Ha! So it *is* an Xmas present! I thank the generous person who donated. The whole community shall benefit. I really look forward to X on the 6000.
BTW Wellenreiter on my 760 works great.

good support of wellenreiter on the 6000 may have problems because of the usb interterface for the chip...
