I have xmms and xmmsmplayer installed.
When I start playing a MP3, it plays for a second and then cuts out, plays again for a second and then cuts out again. Any ideas as to what to look for?

I've experienced that today for the first time, a second of playback, then a few seconds pause, then a bit more, a click, a chirp and then I got vexed and turned it off, I haven't tried since.
I'd guess something is taxing the CPU, but I couldn't do the ol' sysadmin thing while carrying four bags of shopping!!

Hi!
It's a problem of the default xmms mp3 decoder (i think it's mpg321) .. You have to use madplay. Just install the madplay library and the xmms madplay plugin (they are stable ipks on pdaXrom.org) and choose the madplay plugin in the xmms options

I think I had something taxing my processor, I've rebooted, all is fine so far - my problem was probably my own fault.

Last time I tried the equaliser was on a previous install, it killed xmms. Haven't tried since.
