I've just purchased a Zaurus SL-5500 (In the UK if it makes a difference). I'm attempting to flash it with the OpenZaurus ROM (3.3.5) but am having absolutely no luck. After pressing 'C', 'D' and full reset (simultaniously) the battery charging light goes out (which happens when I just press full reset by itself as well) and that's all, no flashing lights, nothing. The CF card is a Dane-Elec 128MB card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to plug the Power Adapter into too, then both LED will turn on and the Zaurus will get flashed. This takes about 3-12 Minutes.
Cheers,
Sam

check md5sums.
then if they're okay reformat CF card.

md5sums are fine. Reformatted the CF (umount /dev/hda1; mkfs.vfat -F 16 /dev/hda1) and still no difference .

Are you holding the reset button down for more than a moment? If so, try just quickly pressing it.
I just had this issue myself. I held C/D and pushed reset for a second or so. It wouldn't flash, with the same symptoms you gave. However, when I decided to just tap it, it worked beautifully.

im having more or less the same issue,
i know someone has flashed mine before as it has a broken OZ install on it (i broke it - oops) just tapping the full reset does the same as holding it down,
i can get to the diag menu just fine by doing d+p and tapping reset.
have you had any success?

Whether just tapping reset or holding it for a length of time I get the same lack of results. I too can call up the diagnosis mode correctly, it's just flashing that refuses to work.

I've got it working now. Would appear that the CF card I was using didn't work for flashing. I switched to using a Viking 128mb CF card (formatted in the same way as the previous one) and it worked perfectly .
