Sharp Adopts Symbian OS for Mobile Phones, Hopes to Expand Share Worldwide
July 13, 2004 (TOKYO) -- Sharp will adopt the Symbian OS, from the UK-based Symbian Ltd, as the operating system for its mobile phones.
Masafumi Matsumoto, corporate director and group general manager of the Communication Systems Group, made the announcement at a press conference on July 8. Matsumoto was explaining Sharp's approach in improving development efficiency in order to expand into overseas markets and to respond to the increasing sophistication of mobile phones.

Hope that this does not indicate a sad future for Linux PDAs/Phones.
