Oh No.

If that's the worst thing to have happened to you, be thankful!

Oh Josh man!
I have empathy for your situation, is it fixable or are you going to get another?
Take a look at a 2nd user C700 from Conics, it's not too expensive, or ebay.
If I were a wealthy man, I'd fedex a new one to you. I have to be honest, I'd be weeping if it was me, I'm already looking at getting a spare C700 because I am terrified of busting my C860.
Sincere condolences, and yes, be thankful that THIS is worst thing you've dealt with.

Thx all.
The touch screen part is busted. And I dont think I could find a sl-5500 that is bricked to replace it. My next option is to buy a new zaurus. But since I am 16 its going to take some time to get the money together.

P.S. This is not the worst thing to happen in my life. Just the worst thing to happen in my life that day.

Consider a 2nd user machine, you will save a lot of money that way. Perhaps you could take a weekend job or something just for a while, also remember that some people do sell their old Z's here on ZUG, you'll get there, just give it a little time.
-
How did you get those 3 ROMs installed on one Z??

My Z is insured for things precisely like that.
Hope you can get yours fixed.

I remember somebody else mentioning replacing the digitizer on their 5500 so I did a little hunting around for the info.
Not that it will do any good but this is the now dead link to the tutorial to replace the screen.

lesterboal.net is still there so you may be able to find a way to contact pboal for more info.
According to this thread https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...p?showtopic=325 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=325)
it was a Dell Axim screen and if I remember correctly it was purchased from PDAParts.com (http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT).
It wasn't quite a plug and play operation because of the cable connections but that didn't seem too difficult to overcome.
Hope this somehow helps.
