Riverbank Computing Co has announced that they no longer support the porting of Python to the Sharp Zaurus. An alternative port can be found at the Python for arm-linux site.
I am currently using Python 2.3 and PyQt 3.9 on my SL-5600 with original Sharp ROM. I just want to know whether it is advisable to upgarde to Python 2.4 and PyQT 3.11, posted at "Python for arm-linux" site.

Python 2.4 is not out.
Don't use the gcc3 packages, they won't work on SharpROMs. I will eventually refresh the gcc2 feed, but that has pretty low priority and I'm a very busy man, so don't hold your breath.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Can it be arranged to transfer old feeds of Python from Riverbank Computing Co for gcc 2.9.5 at your site?
-
I doubt that. And I don't see the necessity, since there is still gcc 2.95 feed on my site which should work on the SharpROM. You just need to install ipkg-new because of the new package format.

It is good to hear that Python feeds for gcc 2.9.5 is available at your site.

If it may help, I have also made available Riverbank's original Python package (as well as PyQt) on this page :
