Hello, I have just received my new C860 from PriceJapan.com.
If you are considering getting one then I can highly recommend using PriceJapan.com, all emails were answered promptly and delivery time was superb.
I ordered on Friday, the C860 was sent on Saturday and arrived at my door on Tuesday morning!
I had to pay import tax at around 15%, although Kaneda had put a 'very reasonable' valuation of the goods on the customs declaration
The total price including tax and delivery was £385 (GBP)
If only the USB/charge lead and car adapter would arrive soon.......not from PriceJapan by the way.

Given what I've read on these forums, and the fact that my secondhand C860 won't charge, I would seriously reconsider using that car adaptor (12 volts) on your C860!!
I bought a charge/sync cable with a PSU adapter and that thing also churns out 12V. I'm not letting that anywhere near my Z!

Has anyone used the car adapter successfully?

I have for a 5500, but the really BIG deal with car adaptors is that you CANNOT have it connected when you start the car as there is a voltage spike that could go as high as 20Volts.
I have not checked mine witha multimeter, but I seriusly think a 4xAA (NIMH) is a better idea and gives you 3x battery life for 5500 and 2x battery life for Cx00 (just becuase Cx00 has longer natural battery life). The extended is MUCH safer (assumingyou are using NIMH and NOT ALKALINE. I have used the extended from PEAKCLOUDY on EBAY for years on my 5500 and a year on my C860 with no problems. I have also used his AC Adaptors on both with no ill effects.
Like I said, I should really check all this gear with a multimeter, but I have not gotten around to it. New cars might limit spikes in lighter sockets, because more people are using them for laptops etc, but you never know.

I just wanted to echo the PriceJapan kudos. I have bought a lot of stuff online and no other service has been as fast/low priced/communicative. Their price was almost $100 less than the nearest competitor, which made me nervous. However, I made the plunge and ordered. Within 15 minutes of doing a paypal transfer, I got an e-mail saying that they had the money and they would send out the Z the next morning. The next morning a DHL tracking number arrived. The thing arrived in New York City 48 hours after I ordered (no customs duties or anything). On the other hand, the WiFi card I ordered from Virginia at the same time arrived 2 days later

Was it a SL-C860? I know that you said it was almost $100 less than from competitors, but can you please elaborate on exact number? How much did they charge for shipping/handling?
Thanks,

I also bought C860 from Pricejapan.com 3 weeks ago. I pay $656 include shipping to USA. And their service is super fast!
-
My price was 628 including overnight DHL shipping. The nearest competitor I could find was like 665 plus 35 for shipping (and that was the EMS shipping which is a lot slower).
-
My C750 was $481 total, from pricejapan also. It's a great store

I highly recommend shopping with PriceJapan. I ordered my SL-C860 on Fri 7/30 for $619 all in (including a 3% paypal crdit card fee), I recevied an email back from them at 7:45am (Tokyo Time) stating that my order was going to be shipped in 4hours. Sure enough four hours later I recieved an email with a DHL tracking number. The package arrived in Oakland, CA at 11:15am on Monday morning..... Now that is service.
I asked them to write gift on the customs declaration but they went one better and stated that it was a $150 Electronic Dictionary.... well I guess the Japanese version could be a dictionary
It took around 4 hours to charge the battery and then around an hour to convert it completely to English. The hardest part was getting XP (running in vmware) to install the 5500 QtopiaDesktop with the SL-C860 drivers from the Japanese CD and then guessing which Japanese Menu on the Zaurus represented a Direct USB I/O connection..... it got upset with me a couple of times but we managed to work through our mutual communication problems and I soon had the terminal installed. Oh, yeh... one think to note is that there is a screenshot missing from the various notes on converting to English. There is a screen between the Japenese please wait 1 minute screen and the calibration screen.... I sat for a good 10 mins looking at the thing waiting for something to happen before I started pressing keys. It progressed to the calibration screen once I touched the screen I guess this is like the Palm's "please tap the screen aware" calibration step.
So now I'm just waiting for my HSN Pretec wireless card, and 512MB SD card from buy.com.... all oredered at the same time as the Zaurus, the Japanese are so efficient . Oh, I highly recommend reading through fatwallets complaints about buy.com before using them.... I didn't and now my order has disappeared into their black hole of a warehouse never to be seen again until the rebate timeframe expires.
This little gizmo is SOOOOO cool!

I am wondering which power supply do the devices have? Are they capable of 230V/50Hz for EU? And what is the warranty/repair conditions of pricejapan? Do I have to send back to japan for repair?

It should come with a Sharp EA-70 PSU, which is 100-240V (i.e. international) and takes an ordinary "figure-of-eight" style mains cord, so just nick one from a radio or something and you are all set.
-
HI There,
Actually my sl-c860 from PriceJapan came with an EA-72 power supply which is rated at AC100V, 50/60Hz which is probably fine for the US but you'll need a step up converter for EU voltages. According to other threads getting hold of a EA-70 is probably the best way to go.
According to PriceJapan's website for the first year after your purchase they are willing to handle any warranty issues for you in Japan for no extra cost other than shipping, so you'll have to send your device back to them and then they will send it off to Sharp for you. After a year they will do the same but you have to pay a fee for the service. Take a look at their website its pretty well laid out.

I purchased a retractable USB/Charge lead from Shirtpocket, it charges from your pc USB socket.
It is not very long but it does the job.

I was thinking of ordering a C860 from PriceJapan.com. I was wondering whether anyone in the UK has paid using their Citibank account? I was going to do an online bank transfer from my LloydsTSB bank account to this one but the account number had too many digits in it. Has anyone paid this way?

@danr: I used the citibank-account in London for payment. I live in germany, and this account was the nearest for me, also it should accept wires in €. I cannot say how long it took my bank to transfer the money from germany to GB, but the guy form www.pricejapan.com (I gues his name is Kaneda) seems to check it rather often. I had some problems, although i thought i filled in the wire form correctly(in €), the money showed up in GBP.
It also seems to me that one has to order by E-Mail if he/she wants to use the london-account, since the account is (or was) not mentioned in the list in the order form. But since Mr. Kaneda is answering mails really fast, one should have no problem.
BTW. my C860 from pricejapan.com is soon to arrive, so i might add another positive remark about pricejapan soon, too.

I transfered from my UK HSBC account to the citybank account last night. No problems making the transfer my end. Just waiting to hear back from him now. I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: transfer didn't make it through to the city bank account. Fortunatly the money was back in my account in 3 days.

Hi Dan,
Sorry to hear the money didn't get through. I managed to send my money from Lloyds TSB to Citibank using CHAPS (which cost £20 unfortunately). Rather worryingly, after informing Kanada of the transfer, he sent me back slightly different account details.
The original details were
account name: Sangyeun CHO
IBAN: GB85CITI18500250683901
(or, account No. 0506839017 )
Citibank, N.A. London
Sort code: 18-50-08
and the updated ones are
( Payment to ) Citibank, N.A.
336 Strand, London
Sort code: 18-50-08
account No.; 10125288
Reference : CHO 506839017
1. If you cannot write above reference information(CHO 506839017) on internet banking,
You cannot place its wire by internet banking.
You may have to go to bank desk for its wire placement.
(this information is also on http://www.pricejapan.com/html/gbpbank.htm) (http://www.pricejapan.com/html/gbpbank.htm))
I sent the money by CHAPS using the account name, account num and sort code shown in the first quote, with reference "(my name) for SL-C860". The money got through after about a day, but Kanada didn't inform me of it for three days, so there I was worrying about whether the money had gone into a hole somewhere. It was a relief when I received an email to say the Zaurus had been shipped to the UK. Two days later the package was on my desk at work.

Hey danr, thanks for your info. I too had that money dissapearing into a hole feeling! Your theory seems to be right, I had a mail from Kaneda confirming he has changed bank accounts. The account number of that new one looks a little more promising. I'll make the transfer to the new account and report back. Might be a while though as our Japanese friend is off on his hols for a week.
Thanks Again

I just ordered a C860 to replace my dead C760 from them last week ( while they were on vacation). Total with DHL shipping to the US was 601 bucks. Received an email from them on the 24th ( the day they said they'd be back from vacation) saying they'd shipped my device out and checked the tracking number. Sure enough they'd sent it out already and DHL had tried delivering it to my door 6 hours earlier

As usual, it takes longer for the device to make it 10 miles across town than it does to make it half way around the world. My 860 arrived from Price Japan in one piece. The price of 860s even dropped 10 bucks since I bought mine last week

Another thumbs up for PriceJapan. My C860 arrived extremely quick (3 days) and it was a steal at $579 delivered.
