Hi everyone.
Personal news: I have decide to drop the name BD iiiiii. It was originally only for my first-ever post, and frankly, it's just not "me". I will be known as Twisk after this.
Fraggy wrote in another thread: the very big advantage of VNC is that you don't need any extra software for the CLIENT: you just need a java enabled web browser, then enter the adress http://remotecomputer_ip_adress:5800 (http://remotecomputer_ip_adress:5800) and voila! You have remote control over the machine in your netscape / IE / Whatever java browser you wish
Fraggy, I found:
1) Keypebble VNC at killefiz.de (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=186)
2) Frame Buffer VNC Server at Zaurus DevNet (https://www.oesf.org/community/66.180.235.230/projects/fbvncserver/)
3) TightVNC at tightvnc.com (http://www.tightvnc.com/)
4) Instructions at The Zaurus Notebook (http://notebook.zaurii.net/zaurus/RemotePC1.htm)
5) Installing the fb VNC server at the the frontgarden (http://www.frontgarden.net/technical/zaurus/vnc.html)
6) Zaurus VNC Server at sdgsystems (http://sdgsystems.com/download.html)
7) And finally RealVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/)
Out of all of those #7 is the most professional looking.
I am still very confused so I will pose this question - If I want my PC to be able to be seen on the the web (as say IP x.x.x.x) so that any computer with a java enabled web browser can access and control it, AND one of those browser-equipped computers is my Z (SL-5500), which of the above is the best for me?
------
Keypebble does not seem to provide browser access.
Zaurus DevNet was above my head.
TightVNC looks really good, but unfortunately doesn't talk about the Z.
The Zaurus Notebook gets sooo close, but just when it gets to "take control of your PC from the Z" it says nothing about using a browser!? Bummer!
the frontgarden only talks about controlling the Z from a PC (wrong way again)
Zaurus VNC Server (at sdgsystems). ?? not much explaination.
RealVNC may be all that I need, but as a newbie I am totally lost.
Fraggy, if you or anyone else could help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
If this post should go in another fora, someone please let me know which one.
