I posted on the Softmaker forum nearly a week ago, but have had no replies, so I thought I would post here to see if anyone has any ideas.
The beta of Textmaker is far superior to Hancock Word, so I want to make it the default, only problem is Textmaker don't know how to do this & asked me to post on the forum.
I have tried adding an entry to the \home\QtPalmtop\etc\mime.types file:-
application\tm doc
and removing doc from the msword entry
and a couple of entries to the \home\QtPalmtop\apps\Applications\tm.desktop file:-
MimeType=application/doc
MimeTypeIcons=tm
Any suggestions?

Did you restart Qtopia after you made those changes?
BTW, where can you get the beta from?
-
Acpkendo
Yes, I did restart, many times.
Softmaker have closed, for new beta testers, no release date as yet, extra features include:-
Improved support for MS Word documents
Handles more document types
Open multiple documents at the same time
Print to system printer, except Zaurus does not have one

in tm.desktop you should have:
MimeType=application/tm
Make sure you have those slashes the right way round too. They should all be forward slashes (/)

Thanks for that Tumnus
I do get the / and \ around the wrong way on occasions, actual entries, as copied from the relevant files are shown below.
mime.types
application/macwriteii
application/msword dot wrd
application/tm doc
application/news-message-id
tm.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Comment=TextMaker for Zaurus
Comment[de]=TextMaker für Zaurus
Exec=tm
Icon=tm
Type=Application
MimeType=application/doc
MimeTypeIcons=tm
Name=TextMaker
Can you see anything wrong or missing?
