Title: How to set up a feed?
Post by: tropic on December 11, 2003, 07:23:40 pm
I want to make a small feed of some apps I use on my Z, but when I try to do a network install of these apps, the Z doesn\'t see the IPKs and instead delivers an error message.

I can just use Opera to install the IPKs one by one, but is there some reason why my feed isn\'t working as a network install?

Feed located here:

you basically need to download the ipkg-make-index.sh (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/feed/ipkg-make-index.sh) and put it in the same directory as your applications, then run the script with the correct syntax.  Check out these instructions for setting up a feed (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=Setting%20Up%20A%20Feed).

I have two feeds setup for the ZUG, one is a mirror of the docs.zaurus.com feed, and the other is a mirror of the cacko x11 feed.  I also have a personal feed setup with all the apps that I install regularly, included my purchased apps.  It\'s nice to have this setup, especially since I flash often and re-install the apps after every flash.  let me know if you need any further help.

I ditto that with the personal feeds.
I personally wget -r every feed I find.  I don\'t set up a mirror to keep up to date,
I just want to make sure nothing blinks away.

Thanks, those instructions are quite clear.  The only slight problem I ran into is that my web hosting company doesn\'t allow shell access to run the script, so instead I simply ran ipkg-make-index.sh in a directory on my home machine which contains the ipks I like, and then uploaded the Packages file and ipks to the web hosting company.
