hi,
has anyone ever had this problem? i listen to mp3s with my zaurus (5600), and last week the audio started wokring in only one ear. i thought it might be a software issue (i had recently installed otr player and madplay) but after uninstalling those packages and rebooting the problem persists. jiggling the headphone jack helps, and if i position it just right (with the male end about halfway in), the audio plays in both ears.
the device is about 6 months old, so hopefully warranty still applies. has anyone ever had to deal with sharp for a repair?
thanks in advance,
-b

SOunds like your headphones are shot.

i tried a couple of different pairs of headphones, and each had the same problem.

It definitely sounds like you headphone socket is on the way out. You probably gave the plug a sharp push sometime way back when... It's under warranty so don't bother trying to bend the pins back in the socket, get Sharp to do it... good luck, hope it doesn't take too long!

thanks for the tip, that sounds right. HOWEVER - and this is extremely weird, and what i'm wondering is if you think i should send it in anyway - after uninstalling the madplay driver and otr player, i raised the volume using the applet (the volume icon - applet may be the wrong term, i'm revealing my windows-usage here) and - magically, audio played in both ears again. is that just a fluke? should i send it to sharp anyway?
thanks for your help. sharp should pay the moderators of this site big bucks since it makes using a zaurus such a pleasure.
btw, nice icon.
