I decided to move to OpenZaurus . Pluged in the zonet wcf card, typed "cardctl ident "
Edited the file /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf and added ...
card "zonet"
version "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"
manfid the two hex numbers plus the comma
bind "hostap_cs"
Saved the file and restart opie.
still not working.
do i have to configure another file?or do i have to put my mac adress somewhere?

I added the following lines to hostap_cs to get mine working:
card "Zonet ZCF1100"
manfid 0x000b, 0x7100
bind "hostap_cs"
And rebooted. It works fine with OpenZaurus 3.2.
Good luck!

zonet make some terrible cards.
the (zcf1100) one I had wouldnt work properly in anything I own. so i sold it.
it 'does' work under linux, i had it working in my laptop using the orinoco_cs driver and it was 'ok', but it would only associate about 75% of the time, and never if it was in slot0.
in my sl5500 under various roms using the hostap driver or orinoco_cs it just sits and refuses to assiociate with anything,
I also have some pcmcia zonet cards and they are just as crap,
my advice, spend an extra £10 and get a nice card that wont make you tear your hair out, and sell your zonet one on ebay :-)

Hello, I am running 3.3.6pre1 (Hentges version) with Opie 1.1.3 and a CF wireless card. The card is simply recognized with no additional input. There seems to be an issue with the CF loader in general; it only recognizes installs about half the time and sometimes locks out installs. When the card is recognized, below, go to 'network' enable the wlan interface, and then go to configure. There rescan neighborhood and then hit 'ok'. This should bring up the interface.
Socket 0:
product info: "INTERSIL", "HFA384x/IEEE", "Version 01.02", ""
manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
function: 6 (network)

its not 'really' the cf/pcmcia loader, zonet make terrible cards. (i have several, all pcmcia and cf cards are very un-reliable)
my zonet cards usually disconnect me and drop the connection after about 26mb of data transfer. this isnt good.
the chipset isnt the problem, just zonet's implementation of it. for instance, the origio card has the same chipset and works every time with the same drivers, with and without encryption (same manfid etc)
if you can help it, dont buy zonet stuff. they might be cheap but they are one of the worst card makers ever

Well I can't say anything for the Zonet cards, but I've had good luck with my Trendware using OZ 3.3.5+
Great power, no problems associating, a little hard on the battery and sticks out a full inch, but it's only $50 plus shipping at tigerdirect(lowest price I've found for it)
Going to get another when I trade this one off for an MP3 player(cheaper than I can buy them for)
