I need to know exactly how to update my 5600 like you would any windows product except with linux i'm sure its not as easy as clicking on "linux updates" lol
i'm new to the linux i know verry little but i have learned more the past few days since i have had it then ever befor lol
Here is what my system info tells me i'm updated to
Embedix Plus PDA
Version 2.0
Opera browser 6.0
insignia jeode java pda edition
Qtopia for embedix plus pda <--- what is this qtopia?
version 1.5.4
built on aug 1 2003
Linux Kernel

compiled by sharp
rom version 1.32
i have a tab called jeode with 2 files in it 1 is primtest and the other is Quasar and i have no idea what they are or what they are for the rim test acts like a video tester but the Quasar does nothing just a blank screen. any info on this?
so what do i do to update to current version?

You've got the latest software. But for future reference the updates and instructions are here: http://www.myzaurus.com/downloads2.asp (http://www.myzaurus.com/downloads2.asp)

Jeode is the implementation of Java the 5600 uses and those are test programs. No idea why Quasar does not work though. You should see spinning spheres when you run it.

For free there is Opie-FTP, which also requires libopie and probably ftplib. You can find it here: http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/stable/ (http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/stable/)

It's in /usr/bin on my 5600. I installed the ipks in this download: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1035 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1035)

I think you misunderstand something. SSH is a terminal program. Do you have the Terminal installed? If so, run it by using this command (once you install ssh):
ssh -l username hostname
It will ask for the password, and just enter it when it does.
Although if you have enver used Linux before (as your first post implies), it would be useless to you until you at least learn to use the command line.
