All,
What is the difference between OZ (3.3.6pre1) and Opie (1.1.3)?
Package Manager seems to know about something named 3.3.6pre1.
Package Manager also seems to know something named Opie 1.1.3.
How did it learn about them? They seem to have simular information. Is there a difference?
I am sorry for the very basic questoins and thank you in advance for your help. I am trying to load opie-mediaplayer. There are 2 versions and they appear different in the 2 releases. One has just opie-mediaplayer2 and the other has opie-mediaplayer and opie-mediaplayer2. The one labeled opie-mediaplayer installs and works. The one labeled opie-mediaplayer2 install w/o error but fails with a 'not found' button error.

Hi Dan,
openzaurus 3.3.6-pre1 comes originally with opie 1.0.3.
CoreDump made an Image based on Openzaurus, but with an updatet opie.
This was because the openzaurus people working hard on a new buildsystem, to make further releases easier. So opie development went on, but openzaurus was staying.
In future you can be able to choose between opie and gpe, that runs X packages.
Please have a look at the openzaurusnewsletters on the openzaurus website.
You shoul use the opiemediaplayer2 from the 1.1.3 feed in your package manager. This is working here.
Cheers,
Sam

What is the difference between OZ (3.3.6pre1) and Opie (1.1.3)?
OZ is the distribution (Like Mandrake for example, and the 3.3.6pre1 is the release number).
Opie is the default GUI (though GPE - X11 based with Matchbox - is/will also be available), which would be comparable to KDE or Gnome on Mandrake, etc.

That package requires opie-mediaplayer2 codecs. What is the best feed for 1.1.3 codecs??

Codecs?
hmmm? I think that needs libxine1 and libvorbisdec and things like that.
I have Intenet access with the Zaurus, in this case you should leave all feeds active and let the packagemanager do.
If you install with "hand", try this:
1) liboggXXX.ipk
2) libvorbisidecXXX.ipk
3) libmadXXX.ipk
4) libxineXXX.ipk
5) opie-mediaplayer2-skin-default-landscapeXXX.ipk
6) opie-mediaplayer2-skin-defaultXXX.ipk
7) opie-mediaplayer2XXX.ipk
Begin with number one.
Cheers,
Sam

Thank you that is a big help. I cannot find many of those packages for Opie 1.1.3. In particular libvorbis.

The libs do not depend on the version of opie (as they have nothing to do with the GUI). Try grabbing them from the 1.0.3 feed instead http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experim...4.18-gcc3/ipks/ (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experimental/collie/3.3.6-pre1-2.4.18-gcc3/ipks/)

P.S. I posted a topic about this a while ago - giving the names of the things to install etc. (thought it looks like Teletubbie's list has the same stuff in it): https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...diaplayer+codec (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3149&hl=mediaplayer+codec)

Hi Lardman
I stole that knowledge about the lib stuff from a german forum
As you now mentioned your posting,it seems the guy from the german forum had it from your post.

No worries I stole mine from here and there too, just wanted to point Dan to something that I know works for sure (as I've used it ;-))
