Have tried the Cacko rom and the pdaXrom.
The Xrom didnt work in many ways. Mostly it was too flaky. But, thats OK, it is early development yet. I may return to this with the next version.
The cacko rom I had high hopes for. Again it is flaky, crashing constantly, not reporting battery power properly, e-mail not working properly and more.
As I am not a linux expert (although I use Linux as my desktop operating system) I am not able to correct any of these defecits. This makes them useless for me.
I simply want an operating system that works and I can install all of these programs on. So, has anyone any ideas of a stable ROM that they can recommend for my C860.
Thanks in advance

Try the standard Sharp ROM, with the localization and translations installed. There are many documents on how to do this around the internet. I'm sure someone can point you to one.
Unfortunatly the Addressbook and e-mail will NOT correctly (for English speakers) alphabetize the listings. You might be able to get a different Zaurus version running on this, like one from the 6000 or something to correctly alphabetize these things, if you really need that.
Now, I'm just going on what I know from reading 860 user posts, because, as it says in my signature, I have a 5600.

Suggest you try KA/Pi (Kaddressbook) on the Sharp ROM, it's only beta, never had a problem & you can sort etc., also works well with KO/Pi (Korganizer)

Many thanks for the info. I will try to get the sharp ROM if I can find it

If Cacko is crashing just with it's own install then you have a problem with YOUR machine. I've been using cacko 1.21 for months, installing it up to the brim with crap and don't have any problems.

I agree with the previous poster. I have used Cacko for at least a month and have installed many apps. Cacko does not crash unless I am trying to force install apps that were meant for other ROMs. There are still a number of things that I am not pleased with, but for me, it was an improvement over the standards ROM.
