Title: Hi From Bonnie Scotland
Post by: jpfitzp on August 22, 2004, 02:02:42 pm
Hey guys

Just about to order 860 from shirtpocket.  Just wondering if there is anyone else in (not so!) sunny Scotland?

Cheers

JP

Hi JP,

Sorry, but I'm not from/in Bonny Scotland (I'm a Londoner), but I will contribute that I am a UK SL-C860 user, and I love it! Before I bought an SL-C860 I had the typical SL-5500 and loved that too... but the 860 is so much better. Faster, lots of application memory, absolutely beautiful screen, nicer build quality, the  keyboard is a lot nicer, the battery lasts a lot longer, the on-board speaker is cool, the jog dial and side-mounted enter/cancel buttons make it into a veritable mp3 player.

After moving on to the 860, the 5500 has been relegated. I advise the Cacko ROM 1.21 for the C860. This ROM works well for me.

Enjoy,
Edo.

Welcome to the ZUG. I live just south of Birmingham but I may one day be living in fife with a friend.

Hullo.
I've just received my c860 from ShirtPocket and hail from the Glorious Kingdom of Fife.

What a magic piece of kit!  The screen.  The keyboard.  The fact its different!

I'm still a Linuxbeginner, but have had every PDA platform known to man.  Okay so the Z lacks some of the polished 3rd party PIM apps such as Iambic Agendus (palm) or PocketInformant (PPC) but I can live with KO/PI (for now, at least!)

And thankfully it sync'd to Outlook first time for me.  TCP/IP workig a treat, apparently.
Which is probably just as well......

Regards,
Neil

C860 from Shirtpocket - no changes to ROM
512MB Expansys CF Card / 256MB Sandisk SD Card
PDAir leather case - practical, but clumsy
Patiently waiting for a 3G CF card to come out.......[/span]
