Title: Adding wifi drivers to Sharp 3.13?
Post by: groovechicken on August 23, 2004, 01:19:05 am
I have a 5500 and am trying to use an OEM Proxim PCMCIA wifi with my cf-pcmcia adapter under the latest Sharp ROM. This thing worked beautifully in OZ, but the Sharp ROM doesn't cooperate with it. Cardctl ident gives the following:
Socket 0:
product info: "PROXIM", "LAN PC CARD HARMONY 80211B", "", ""
manfid: 0x0126, 0x0002
function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
no product info available

I tried adding orinoco.o and orinoco_cs.o from OZ to the modules directory and the following to wlan-ng.conf, but got no results:
card "PROXIM LAN PC CARD HARMONY 80211B"
version "PROXIM", "LAN PC CARD HARMONY 80211B"
manfid 0x0126, 0x0002
bind "orinoco_cs"

Also tried binding to prism_cs with no luck.

I would just go back to OZ, but 3.2 is such a pain with the delayed suspend issue and the slow card ejection.  I tried the 3.3.6 rom, but couldn't get KO/Pi to run under it and gave up.

Surely there is a way to get this card running under since it works so perfectly under every version of OZ I've tried.  Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Peace,
Todd

Problem solved!!!

bernr had the following suggestion:

card "Proxim"
manfid 0x0126, 0x0002
bind "prism2_cs"

I never thought to actually try using less info than cradctl was giving me.  I'm all hooked up, now to find a good voip client.
