Title: Trouble with ipkg and gzip
Post by: projekt on August 27, 2004, 03:14:47 pm
Okay, i just got my zaurus yesterday and was trying to install puredata for it. It installed fine, but when I run it from the terminal I get an error about needin glibc in my libraries or something like that... So, I get that on my sd card via qtopia desktop and I notice that its not in my add/remove programs package list. so i use the terminal and try ipkg install libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-15_arm.ipk and I get the following error...

Zcat: libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-15_arm.ipk : not in gzip format

zcat: stdin : unexpected end of file
error unpacking control.tar.gz from libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-15_arm.ipk

Anyone know how to fix this up. I am guessing there is something missing from this package, but I also get this on another ipk that I have for CSound which I also want to install and try out.   Well your help is appreciated.  I am using the default Sharp rom, I think its 2.3.8. I haven't updated anything so its just right out the box .

This is a very FAQ! There are 2 types of ipks currently available and the standard sharp rom version of ipkg only recognises 1 of them.

Read the ZUG FAQ, there are instructions there (and in many places on this forum) on how to convert the other version so that the sharp ipkg can recognise it.
