Title: mp3s skip over wifi and samba
Post by: asdavies on December 14, 2003, 09:05:03 am
I notice my mp3s skip badly over the wifi network via samba from a linux pc.  I notice however, a lot of zaurus users love the mp3/oggs via samba wifi functionality.  However, for me it is unuseable.  Is there anyway that I can fix this issue.

Here are configs:

sharp rom 1.32
zaurus 5600
symbol spectrum24 wifi
linksys wifi access point befw11s4 ver 2
tckplayer (or the default sharp media player)
mp3s are 128kbs

I was wondering if there were apps that could buffer the mp3s.  Or perhaps I should use nfs sharing rather than samba?  Have I got a really slow wifi card?  My laptop plays mp3s over the network fine.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ashley

I worked out the problem.  Its the symbol wifi card- its a low power card, which is good for the battery but means it doesn\'t download as fast.  I swapped it for a dlink 660w and that works fine without skipping (but uses more power).
