Title: Wireless Sync
Post by: granbajo on August 30, 2004, 06:15:00 am
Hello,

I am trying to sync my Zaurus 5500 to my Lotus Notes and Palm desktop at work, which is easy enough to do, however, for various different reasons, I don't want to bring my cradle in to the office all the time.

I believe IR is out of the question, but has anybody tried synching using a wireless CF card?  Is this possible even in theory or would I be wasting my time trying it?

  Any ideas are welcomed.

Carlos

I've never gotten wireless sync to work with the Sharp ROMs (maybe works with others), but I use a SERIALIO USB cable - ZThinCable (http://www.serialio.com/products/adaptors/ZThinCable.htm) to do my syncing at the office.  There's the added benefit of battery charging through USB as well.

I have wireless sync working using SL5500, Sharp ROM 3.10, and Micro$loth Outlook.  There is a how-to on doing this.  If your configuration matches this, let me know and I'll try to help.  I have no experience with Lotus or Palm desktop though.

Thanks,

I was actually counting on being able to use the Wireless network to fool Intellisync into using the Wireless link, as long as the uip address was reachable.  The problem is that  as far as I can tell, PC-Link needs to be up on the Zaurus as well, and I can not change that one.

The reason for Intellisync is that it can actually sync with Palm Desktop, which is what I need.`

V-Man, could you post a link to the Howto that you have, I could probable get something out of it.

Otherwise I will try the ZThinCable, although it is a bit pricy to order from Ireland €41 is the cheapest I have found so far!!!

Thanks
