Title: Zaurus stuck in infinite loop; HELP!
Post by: zaphod on December 14, 2003, 10:22:17 pm
I have the cacko ROM 1.18 on SL750 and i was playing around trying to install lighswitch applet and now all i get is the booting... screen over and over again.

I deleted the lightswitchapplet.so from the Qtopia applets dir but the situation persists.

The only way to stop this is to telnet in and
echo a ] /home/sharp/etc/launch.default

I  don\'t understand what that script is doing in the while loop where it puts up the booting... screen.  But that is definitely where it\'s stuck.

I tried running qpe.sh or qpe manually, but the screen goes black and nothing seems to happen. If I run qpe as root from the console, I get the startup chime, but qtopia does not appear.  Something is going on with virtual terminals?

Nevermind. I turned on loggin in qpe.sh and discovered that the /tmp directory had strange permissions. qpe was segfaulting because of it.  Dammit! Why can\'t Sharp 3.X based ROMs just run with root as the main user. It\'s not like a PDA is really a multiuser system anyway.
