Trying to get a few apps to work which say I need the compat. files
opie-sh_0.5-20030824_arm.ipk
oz-compat-opie_0.1_arm.ipk
oz-compat_0.5_arm.ipk
The opie-sh ipk installs but the other 2 will not.
Anyone have luck installing these?
Thanks
John

Well John, compat libs are sometimes tricky.
You could try to use the hentges rom, that is based on 3.3.6-pre1 and opie 1.1.4
www.hentges.net
The 1.1.4 version comes with german localization, but you can choose english as default. Then only the first boot things are german, for example the calibration screen. But this should not be a problem.
After that you have an extra feed with modified compat libs. The nice thing is taht you will just need two files. Also a very nice feature is opie-sh-micro. Here you will not get an extra tab for sh apps, since the compatlib icon is in settings tab. The sh tab will then come with sh packages, that really use the tab. The compat libs work here nice out of the box.
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Sam
PS: there are lot of other nice features in this rom, for example the new oe Kernels and the new pcmcia_cs that dont produce cardmgr crashes anymore. The fast sd driver is also included.

@seekyrr:
Presumably you're using 3.3.6pre1 to need the compat libs. Where are you trying to install them; they don't like going anywhere but root.
Even if you're not running the hentges ROM, I'd assume you can still use the modified compat libs which Teletubbie talks about.
Give them a go and let us know if they work (any better ;-)

Hi,
I have a zaurus for testing. It is possible to install opie-sh-micro to root and oz-compat to ram. In my test case hancom installed to ram too works with the compat.
If you are looking for otherpackages have look at my feed:
http://teletubbie.hentges.net/feed/ (http://teletubbie.hentges.net/feed/)
The vpn stuff works too.
http://teletubbie.hentges.net/vpn/ (http://teletubbie.hentges.net/vpn/)
The other stuff you may find on teletubbie.hentges.net are for testing and debugging (temp, testlibs)) Dont you use them since you know what you are doing, maybe you wanna helpus getting bluetooth running.
All the stuff is compiled with gcc3.3.2 so no need for compatlibs. They run also faster.
I just keep the feed actual. Today I am going to add portabase and the OE Version of kdepimpi (withouth mail, please use opiemail3 that is also in the feed). The xmms stuff works fine too, but you will get better sound, if you also install the libvorbis etc. from the feed too.
Have fun,
Sam

Hi,

I have removed a lot of PIM apps from root. Figure I can install something later onto SD.
Still not enough for everything in root. If I do the lage file (oz-compat) into RAM..and full reset. Do I just have to reinstall it..or will I need to relink or do any other steps.
Thanks

Hello John,
the oz-compat and opie-sh* packages can be installed on SD or CF.
It is not required to install them into the ROM or RAM.
Just use the packages from the hentges.net 1.1.4 extras feed and you should be fine.
They fix a few minor bugs present in oz-compat_0.5.
