Title: "ipkg says something went wrong. Sorry"
Post by: petesouthan on September 23, 2004, 06:51:58 am
Hi, anyone help me ---- again!!!

I am using a c860 with cacko 1.21b and I am tying to install a few programs to it, its a new unit with only the ROM and the hotfix installed.
When I use the Add/Remove Software icon and select my application and then select internal flash, it thinks then I get a box stating: "ipkg says something went wrong. Sorry"
Or it says something about the filename containing an unsupported character, when I mv it to a shorter name, ipkg then tells me to change it back!

I have managed to install to my SD card, but I don't want to.

Do you think a reflash is in order?

Any help for a thicky like me would be great.
cheers.

Hello

this problem is often usual when the insatallation of the rom is not good.
The only way to repair is to reinstall

Try this instead:

https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...ng\.+sorry (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6343&hl=ipkg+says+something+went+wrong\.+sorry)

Basically look in your /usr/lib/ipkg/status file and edit out the lines that show the file that you tried to install and say "error".

Edit:

Lardman also had it as well:
