Title: More Space to Install
Post by: omro on September 23, 2004, 02:23:47 pm
Hey guys,

I've been faffing with OZ 3.5.1 and it's fun :-) But I keep running out of space. What's the best way to recover space to install things onto using this version of OZ?

Will the linux-migration notes still be valid or are there better ways.

I've a 128mb SD card to assist me in my endeavour with my z5500

Thanks!

Owen

Some people copy /opt to their SD cards and then symlink.  Other people use
Code: [Select]
ipkg add -d sd to install to the SD card and then
Code: [Select]
ipkg-link mount /mnt/card to do the magic that tells OZ/Opie about the new packages.

The ipks I want to install are on a CF and that code doesn's work even if I change the card to cf

ipkg-link does not install packages, all it does is link installed packages from the mount point to the root filesystem.

If you wish to install your packages that are stored on your CF card you use ipkg on them.

I was doing that and at this point it tells me I have run out of space on the root, hence the whole point of asking how to make more space :-)

Start removing non-esential packages. Games, languages(?), world time (as everything is GMT at the mo anyway), PIM apps(?), um... don't have Z in front of me, but that sort of thing.
