There is some documentation on Kismet and pdaxrom here:

http://www.pdaxrom.org/index.php?showid=37&menuid=8 (http://www.pdaxrom.org/index.php?showid=37&menuid=8)

The command to run from terminal is 'kismet'.

Available [to be installed] v. [actually] installed

If kismet still shows up as available, your kismet install may well have failed.
