Title: GNU Screen
Post by: PeterL on September 28, 2004, 06:38:16 am
Hi,

I'm trying to install GNU screen.  I downloaded it from http://psifertex.com/zaurus/screen.phtml (http://psifertex.com/zaurus/screen.phtml)

While the download worked fine, the .ipk isn't recognised by the installation utility.  Running ipkg from a shell, I get:

zcat: stdin: unexpected end of file
ipkg_install_file: ERROR unpacking control.tar.gz from screen_3.9.11_arm.ipk

Does anybody have a working .ipk for this program ?

I just downloaded it; it's fine, you probably just got a corrupted download, try it again.

Hi,

I tried it again, from different machines, but it still doesn't work   I have file size 297903 bytes, is this the same as you ?  Is there a difference in ipkg from C5x00 compared to my c860 ?

297,903 bytes

No difference between 5500 and C machines.

I just renamed it to tar.gz and opened it and its contents and it all worked fine. Perhaps you're our of disk space (for the unpacking)?

Oh !

I just extracted the files by hand with tar -xzf, and that works fine !  I can run screen, too, by just extracting to /

I don't know why ipkg refused to extract it, but at least, it's working now !  Thx.
