hi there. I have a sharp c860 (with sharp rom). where does the datebook(calendar) application store the actual entries in the calendar. I need to transfer the calendar entries from one backup to the other. thanks

Applications/dtm/
that's for all sharp's pims

thanks, will give it a try...

no. that did not work. a copied the applications/dtm directory for user root and zaurus to a sd card. restored my preferred backup. copied back the dtm directory and i have still not got me calendar entries back.

Are you sure that the data was actually copied?? The PIM apps are fast-loaded by default, which means that they are running all the time, hence the files open for write &, therefore, you can't overwrite the files.
In order to successfully overwrite the DTM data files, you must first disable fast load on all of the PIM apps and make sure the apps aren't running (use kill if ps shows they are still around).

hi doseas. I killed the PIM apps after disabling fast loading on the PIM apps. still did not get my calendar entries back after copying back the /dtm directory. should i be restoring the ~root/applications/dtm as well as ~zaurus/applications/dtm?.

No. ~root/Applications is a symbolic link to /home/zaurus/Applications, so you only need to copy the files there.
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that would be preventing it from finding the data -- I'll have to go & think about it some more.
What is the process that you used to get the old files from your backup and put them onto the SD card? Is there a chance somehow that part of that process is modifying the data files (ex: FTP in non-binary mode, or a transfer util that is replacing LFs with CR/LFs)?

hi doseas.thanks for the pointers so far. i copied the files from the terminal application qconsole using "cp * /mnt/card/temp". that is after "cd ~Applications". my sd card is vfat formatted. i think may have to use a resync with outlook to get back the data i lost.

My question was really aimed at determining how you got the data files out of the backup -- did you untar the backup on the Zaurus, or did you perhaps copy the data files from a Windows system? If the latter, you should take a close look at how this was done because it is possible that the files could be altered by the transfer procedure.

Hi - your query is the only post I can find which is sort of similar to the problem I have - I'm a newbie with a C860 - trying to delete dtm files SLDATE & SLTODO - are you able to tell me (in simple terms) exactly what I press on the Zaurus to achieve this? Both apps freeze when I try to open them and reboot/soft resets haven't worked. Feel a bit out of my depth in the QConsole app as a newbie - are there any guidelines anywhere as a 'getting started guide'
Many thanks

Hi doseas. I restored (using the zaurus restore utility) the backup file containing the files I wanted. Copied the dtm directory to the SD, then I restored my preferred backup (using the zaurus restore utility) and the copied back the dtm directory from the SD
