Title: gpe software installation
Post by: adf on September 28, 2004, 08:49:28 pm
I am trying to stick with gpe as it grows- 3.5.1 gpe seems like potentially the best thing possible on the z-,
but as it stands today, I  am having problems installing some stuff -
: firefox
Thunderbird
 totem

Mediaplay and a webbrowser that does ssl are important.

Working: minimo, dillo (if only we had the ssl version!!!!!--hint hint) fire manafger, all th card control stuff.

Any one know how to do X for4warding on kdrive?

I am having trouble with Tcl/Tk. I am using Tclkit and some small scripts. They work fine on X/Qt on a C860 but don't work with GPE on a SL5000D. Also GPE was incredibly slow on the 5000D.

Hmmm gpe seemed ok on a friend's 5500.... but then we didn't run much. I'm using a 5600.
speed is good.
It seems to me that there is a lack of linking in ipkg-link, or something like that.
I played with X/qt a little, decided this way seemd a better idea. I have also seen version probs between libs and apps that use the (totem/libgnomeui)
I have no idea how to fix either muy probs or yours.... I suppose if we kep at it something will have to give.
