Title: Symbol Wireless TX Packet Errors
Post by: Fray on October 02, 2004, 02:46:05 am
My performance on a Symbol Wireless card is really painfully slow.  I checked in ifconfig and it looks like I'm getting a bunch of errors on TX packets -- not on RX packets though; those are totally error free.

This happens even if I stick the PDA right next to my access point, so I don't think it's a distance or interference problem.

I'm using the older sharp ROM (verison 2 instead of version 3) because it's the only system I can actually get the darn driver working in the first place.  The driver version is 0.3.4.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?  I kinda fear that I have a busted wireless card.

Thanks,
Fray

Is the access point 802.11b or perhaps 802.11a/g?

There's a known issue that the current Symbol Linux drivers don't work with a/g networks or combo APs. Most of the time the AP is just not found but sometimes I've gotten a connection but with very poor link quality and the link has died a minute or so into the connection. The newest Windows drivers from the Symbol website work just fine.

If you're using just b-network, it should work just fine.
