Title: 5500 and GPRS phones
Post by: netog on October 05, 2004, 11:28:46 am
I have a 5500 with 3.13 Sharp ROM.
I want to buy a cell phone with GPRS support.  IR support or Bluetooth, whatever.

My question is: is it there any list of compatible phones?

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

I also have sl-5500 with 3.13 rom. I set up my cell phone to access internet with opera 7.30.
I purchased a digital phone card from http://www.socketcom.com/product/dpc.asp (http://www.socketcom.com/product/dpc.asp)

This site should give you the phone info you are looking for.

I used to use an Ericsson T68 with my Zaurus, I replaced that with a Sony Ericsson K700i, and that works brilliantly with the Zaurus as well (via BlueZ bluetooth using an Armadillo BlueMonkey CF card).

Here is my setup with a T616:

It may not be the same using 3.13, but some of the info may be useful to you.

I use the 3.13 rom with the Cacko update and for connecting to the net I use IR with my Sharp TM100 phone (only got it because it looks like a small SL6000), before I got this I used IR and a Samsung A300, and I've never had any trouble with a few other ohones I've tried.
Just look for any phone which says IR and you should be able to connect.

I have a Nokia 6310i and am using my Z 5500 for browsing and email and IM. unfortunately at the moment only via IR, and not (yet) by bluetooth connection.

Huzzay! I recieved my Socket rev.F Bluetooth card yesterday, and am now running my connection via bluetooth! (Still using SL5500 and Nokia 6310i).

Needed to install all packages for bluez and suspend/resume issues.

...But it works!
