Hi,
I have a 5500.
1. How do I access the terminal? I can't find it in the settings or in a menu anywhere.
2. When I try to Synch from my Mac (using any of the various alpha or pre-alpha tools) it hangs on me saying that it can't communicate over port 4242. I assume that the program I'm using is attempting a root FTP connection. Why wouldn't that work?
3. Forget ftp, heck, I can open up my Zaurus using SMB. I've done so and can load files from my Mac just fine. Works great...
4. But how about address book and iCal files? Well, my address book cards are vCards. My iCal files are ".ics" files. Anyone have any idea how I can convert these into a format my 5500 can understand? I've tried dumping them into "Install_Files", but that doesn't do a lick of good. How could I load them into the Addressbook/Calendar?
I am not asking for true "Synching", but I'd love to just load the data and have it with me. I'll do manual Synching on my own.

If you're still using the stock Sharp ROM loaded with your 5500 then I don't think the Terminal app will be installed by default.
You can find the files to install it from the Sharp CD, or probably from devnet somewhere (if it's still alive).
I can't help with Mac syncing, not being a mac user, I'm sure its been done though, keep googling and report back if you find anything useful.

Presumably you're using one of the later ROMs then; these don't have an ftp server, hence this error:

Change ROM or change your sync tool.

Try beaming them over.

Check out the KDE pim found at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=112604 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=112604)
It's great, is easy to sync, and reads your ics files.
