you throw it on your c-860 i need help cause if it cant play full movies correctly lol what was the point of spending so much money lol please help would be great or better video program for zauri would be good to even a process and programs i can use so the video looks proper on the so called high res screen the c-860 has
i remember the ux50 played good divxs and the screen was half the res and only had a 123 mhz processor

What is the resolution of the movies and how many kb/s? I have no problems playing 320x240 Divx movies at 250kb/s with 64kb mp3 audio. But I could not play a 640x480 movie for example. There is work being done to improve kino2 performance (assuming that you are using Cacko Qt ROM), but I would recommend staying with 320x240 movies for now.
Hope this helps.

StupidKid,
Give this a try....650Kbs Mp3 Audio at 32000 11K Mono 320x240 and drop every other frame ...ie: decimate by 2 (the quality should be great with no pixelation and the extra frames won't be missed, especially if your used to your old setting). Downside is that files are generally larger. I also use cropping to remove upper and lower bars on screen and also lose 50 on a side (so the aspect ratio isn't too bad) ...this only applies to widescreen movies. I love widescreen, but on the Z, I want to use every pixel and the loss of 50 pixels on a side has never cut out anything I could not live without.
I would be curious to see what you think considering you're used to the other settings.

markedman,
If you want to be 100% sure of how the video runs you should rip them yourself from DVD. There are MANY ways to rip movies that will run well on the Zaurus. Here are a few for windows:
http://www.double.co.nz/zaurus/ (http://www.double.co.nz/zaurus/)
https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...?showtopic=5085 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5085)
and one for Linux:
http://cmisip.home.insightbb.com/zaurus.htm#COG (http://cmisip.home.insightbb.com/zaurus.htm#COG)
There are so many variables you really should try running through one of the HOWTO's and then reading some of the comments in these forums to find out what you like the most. Tyr searching on 'video and how and encode'.
Hope this helps!

Download w100/Intel IPP optimized mplayer from
http://atty.jp/?plugin=attach&refer=Zaurus...re5.1-1_arm.ipk (http://atty.jp/?plugin=attach&refer=Zaurus%2Fmplayer-w100&openfile=mplayer-w100_1.0pre5.1-1_arm.ipk)
and you will be able to view 320x240x512 kBit/44100/128kBit/stereo/Portrait
or 640x352x248kBit/22050/32kBit/mono/Landscape movies without framedrops
Now Anton Maslovsky make great work to integrate this highly optimized mplayer in Kino2 v0.4. (new Cacko 1.22 ROM)
Best and simpliest way to convert DVD to Zaurus is using PocketDivXEncoder 0.3.50 if you use Windows. Very fast (use last mencoder) very clear (2 pass DivX encoding)
Don't use XVid codec - it's slow on Zaurus (i don't know why)
And to get maximum perfomance don't use portrait videos - rotation slow down mplayer by 2 times. If you try to play 640x352 portrait videos - you'll get slideshow
Good luck,
Konstantin.

Usage of w100/IPP optimized player:
1) if you have 320x240 44100/128/stereo portrait video
$mplayer -vo w100 -fs -dr -vop rotate=1 -quiet test.avi
2) if you have 640x352 22050/32/mono landscape video
$mplayer -vo w100 -fs -dr -af resample=44100:0:0 -quiet -framedrop test.avi
Important: if you have encoded video with samplerate lower than 44100 you must add -af resample=44100:0:0 parameter!!! Else you miss audio/video sync and perfomance drop down.
Note: you can play files with resolution more than 320x240 for example 428x240 (16x9) without loosing perfomance if you add smart crop -vf crop=320x240.
About using PocketDivXEncoder read help
Good luck,
Konstantin

I tried installing the w100 mplayer. It seems to have installed, but mplayer on command prompt still shows old version - .93. Any thoughts?
