Title: Help save a sl-5600 from the grave
Post by: Earl W on October 18, 2004, 04:27:37 am
Hello All,

Well some how I have broke the LCD in my beloved 5500 ;(

I was hoping that somebody would have some knowledge or ideas to help me out.  I have done several google searches and can find parts for other PDA's but not my sharp.

It has been a great tool and would hate to lose it.

Thanks so much
Earl

Is the whole screen broken or just the digitizer?

If the display still works but you cant use the touchscreen, there was a post under everything 5500 about how to make a digitizer from another pda work.

Othrewise you may need to buy a broken 5500 for parts, or sell the 5500 and upgrade to an 860 or a 3000 when it begins shipping.

I believe that the digitizer is the part, where you do the hand writing.  My LCD is broken at the very top.  So I believe that the digitizer should be ok.

I will check out those sites.

Thank you
Earl.

PS I also need to get an account here you guys rock!
