Post by: deniscallies on October 18, 2004, 05:20:30 am
Hello,

I am looking for a VoIP software like Linphone (linphone.org (http://www.linphone.org))

there is a console version too. Could someone compile that for RC5 please?

Hi,

I have built the console version and put it up on the unstable feed.
There are 3 packages to get

linphone
libosip
libogg

It's all yours. It seems to run (starts up loads codecs and gives a prompt), but I have no way of testing it on the task of VoIP phoning myself.

It may be possible to build the version with the GUI, but it needs more work on my part.
If this works I'll give it a go.

Please let me know how you get on with this, and if possible let me have any snippets of configuration file that I can use in the package.

Andy

How useful would this be without some kind of headset, or combination of speaker and microphone?  As far as I know you can only have one or the other, not both, with the Z.

Hi! I compiled the console and the GUI version, but neither of them works. I don't know where the problem is, but just snippets of audio data are transferred from Zaurus to PC :-?

I downloaded the newest linphone version and compiled it with these options:
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-rpath-link,/opt/arm/3.3.2-vfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/X11R6/lib" ./configure --host=armv5tel-cacko-linux -build=i686-linux --x-includes=/opt/arm/3.3.2-vfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/X11R6/include --x-libraries=/opt/arm/3.3.2-vfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/X11R6/lib&&make

I didn't test your version, but I expect it to have the same problem.. (not able to test it now, but will soon )

Hi,

linphonec runs fine  !

Here (http://www.shirtpocket.co.uk/cat/product_info.php?products_id=306&osCsid=55a3fb7049c86656de04e5400b1aab10) you can find a sort of  Headset. Ordered it today, will post my opinion.

Thank you for compiling !

Denis

Could you show me your configuration?
.. maybe it's just a bad audio codec or something alike..
Tried it about a month ago with <rc5 and there was the same problem as today.. :-/

thanks, jabbath

Hi Dennis,

I just tried the linphonec with the test server that comes with it, and it didn't seem to work properly. It is supposed to ring and play a short announcement. It connected to the test server, rang but seemed to play a silent annoucement.

Did you manage to use it successfully for a VoIP call?

@Xumbi, the headphone socket is either stereo headphones or mono headphones and mono mic. I've been told it works with the hands free mobile phone headsets in Japan (I guess like the one in the link above)

The Z uses one leg of the stereo audio output as a mono mic input.  Can it not continue to use the other leg as a mono output at the same time then?  I had kind of assumed that it could.

Hello,
i used the included linphonec and copied it to ~/.linphonec
