Title: 3.5.1 fails installing on a c860
Post by: sigmaX on October 20, 2004, 12:21:12 pm
Dear friends,

I had SHARP ROM in my C860 .... and so I decided to take a peek into Op 3.5.1

I copied installation files into my CF, renaming them as needed, rebooted and openzaurus installer started working.

At first everything seemed OK, but when the text started scrolling showing the different installation output, LOTS of those texts where depicting "ERROR" or "CANT FIND" .... Anyway, it finished installing.

Just to find:

1) No Calibration screen...

2) Only a window stating that "A new storage media detected: SD CARD..."

3) Stylus doesnt work

4) I cannot use the keyboard to control that window.

I got stuck in that new storage window ... even if I reboot...

I used PDAXROM, CACKO ROM, SHARP ROM ... etc. I mean, I can be dumb and be missing something, but for me it seems that the issue here was openzaurus installer not coping with my 860  (although it correctly said at the beginning of installation that it was an SL-C860).

Any ideas ? anyone ?

How shall the NAND be partitioned ? does it matter ? I had it 50 megs for OS flash If I correctly recall.

First boot has to be without any cards inserted (otherwise you get what's happened to you - it happened to me too :-), remove them and perform a hard reset (remove battery and external power for c.20sec).

Thx Lardman  I did so ... (I did not read anywhere else about taking out my SD  but then I was in a rush to see things happening)

Now let´s see if it boots and starts OK: YES IT DOES !! I will play a bit with it .... right now I got stuck inside a console, but earlier today I read that it was possible to get out ... I just got to find how

Off I go to explore
