Hiya - just about to have my PC upgrades to Office 2003 - anyone know if this will cause any problems with Synching to Outlook 2003?
Cheers
-
Nope..no problems...works fine.
-
Thanks :-)

I must be crazy but upgraded to Outlook 2003 and sync stopped working. I contacted Sharp and they said that Sync did not work with 2003. Does it or doesn\'t it or is there a workaround? I\'m very confused but for now my Zaurus is a paperweight.

I just talked with Sharp Zaurus support yesterday and they send if they get enough complaints on the syncing problem with Outlook 2003 they will look into creating a fix.

I seem to remember something about the format of the files are different in Outlook2003 and you can save in a compatability mode

If you use Intellisync this oughtn\'t matter as it uses the object model which I assume is pretty much unchanged (or at least I doubt they removed anything). I don\'t know how Qtopia Desktop works.

Works for me using Intellisync.

I am able to have Activesync for a PocketPC and Intelliysync for the Zaurus both utilize Outlook 2003 on th same PC to sync. Although I just installed Intellisync tonight, the two programs don\'t seem to have issues with each other.

What kind of enviroment are you using Outlook, Internet email or Exchange Server based? I know my Zaurus is not syncing with Outlook 2003 as an Exchange Server Client. Or are you downloading Exchange mail into a personal folder. From talking with Sharp, they told me that M$ changed the format of the file layouts for Outlook 2003.
-
This is meangene...I\'m not syncing as an exchange server client. My mail is downloaded into a personal folder. I haven\'t noticed any problems yet. Actually, Intellisync seems more stable than Activestink.

Hi,
Same problem here: Just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003 and intellisynch stopped working.
When back to Outlook 2000 and it started working again. They both use the same outlook.pst file so I don\'t think the problem is with the file format but with how intellisynch (version 1.43E) gains access to this file.

I am having similar problems with Outlook 2003. Networking is set up properly because I cause SSH into the Zaurus as usual, but no Intellisync. I think the problem is with Intellisync, because when I go into synchronization option I can\'t locate any data files for Outlook 2003. When I go to browse it takes me too Personal Folders where OK is greyed out and won\'t let me browse anywhere else.

wow ... I never had anyproblems synching with outlook 2k3 ... in its beta version it was final -- i didn\'t buy the final version so......

I cannot sync with Outlook 2003, either. I also called Sharp and was told they have no plans to develop a work around for this.
My Outlook 2003 runs from an exchange server.
I don\'t understand why some of you are not having problems. I am so discouraged that I am about to dump my Zarus.
-
Dump Outlook 2003 and Microsoft or dump your Zaurus? It\'s up to you.
You could also revert to the previous version of Outlook. Again, it\'s up to you.
It\'s very bad that again a MS compititor has problem with a MS new software. Shame, shame, shame on Sharp! They are so stupid to use Linux. They should produce Pocket PC device and use Active Sync to stay compatible with MS for ever.

I\'ve noticed on my C860 running Cacko rom that I can sync with Office 2003 by setting the pc link to USB - I/O on both the pc and Zaurus. When I set the pc link to USB - TCP/IP the sync looks like its going to work but then fails. I assumed Intelasync with Office 2003 works over USB - I/O but does not work over USB - TCP/IP. Syncing my calender and email is very important to me and its not that difficult to switch between the two modes so I just switch as required. Note that you can not use TCP/IP reliant applications over USB - I/O so if you use such apps (like telnet or ssh) you will need to switch between the two modes.
Hope that helps.

try not syncing the calendar. This allows me to sync the contacts/notes/todo with Outlook XP (2002) as Exchange client. Can\'t get calendar sync to work though.
-
I was also happily working with Outlook 2000 and Exchange. I was then upgraded to Outlook 2003.
The first time I tried to sync with 2003, I ran into problems. It seemed to work when Outlook was offline but not when it was online.
I found that uninstalling the Zaurus software on Windows and re-installing solved my problem. Note that doing this will delete the watermarks from the Windows side and cause a full sync to happen.

I upgraded to Outlook 2003 last week. Intellisync appeared to be syncing, but the data was not being copied even though the PC apps all looked and acted the same as before.
To fix this I uninstalled and reinstalled the sync programs from the sharp CD. as Ernie suggested above Quoting hallerec

Unfortunately the first time I synchronized after that it wanted to duplicate (double) the entries in outlook and on the Zaurus.
Two ways I have handled this in the past....
When intellisync tells you it is a different sync than before(sorry I don\'t remember the exact message)
1. Cancel the syncronization
2. Create a temp folder for each of the items you synchronize.
3. move all of the items from the folders into the non-syncing temp folders
4. syncronize
5. at this point you have a copy of what is in the Z in outlook. you can either delete it all from outlook and resync (which clears the data from the Zaurus)
then move it back from temp folders from above and sync one more time.
or.....
Delete all PIM data on the Zaurus from terminal
rm /home/zaurus/Applications/dtm/*
reboot the Zaurus (to recreate the PIM files)
sync with the PC

I was having problems with Outlook XP and syncing, and the problem stems from a corrupt *.pst file in Outlook. I could import contacts and to-do tasks, but not Calendar. Found a fix (sort of) which I documented here: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...t=4165&start=15 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4165&start=15)

It half way works. You can sync the calendar and addresses. You must choose the correct folder when setting up or it has an error and closes.
-
I'm dredging this up again because Office 2k3 was installed here at my office.
I can sync fine with my default calendar (after re-install of intellisync), but I cannot sync with the exchange calendar I work with.
Has anyone successfully gotten this to work? I notice in the Intellisync Options, the '+' signs after calendar, mail, notes, etc do not allow me to select public folders anymore.
