Does anyone have any experience in using the Sharp CF camera with a Zaurus 5600 that is running the original Sharp ROM? The camera seems to function properly up to the point where you try to actually take a picture and save it either to the built-in memory or an SD card. Then it reports a failure writing to memory. Some sort of permissions issue?
TIA,
Windrose

You don't mention which version of the Sharp ROM you're running. or which version of the camera software...
I have no problems with Sharp's camera program with ROM 1.32 and camera software qpe-camera_1.5.0-3_arm.ipk
The first thing to try is to hold down the stylus on the camera icon to get the menu. Then make sure it runs with root priviledges.
If that doesn't work, let us know what versions you have...

Make sure you set all of your options in the Camera app. Even if you think they are already set by default, set them again.

Well, I was using Sharp 1.32 ROM, but in a possibly misguided attempt to Move With The Times -- and also get the camera working -- I flashed the 5600 to the new OpenZaurus 3.5.1 ROM. Then I installed the Sharp camera support package from the upgrades directory and the opie camera app from the feed.
They both reported successful installation, however attempts to run the camera app fail with a SIGSEGV error on the first try, after which the app refuses to recognize the card. Sigh.
