Title: Transfering SL5500 data to Sl5600
Post by: rcdawson on October 24, 2004, 04:06:27 pm
How do I go about transferring address book, calendar, and to-do list entries from SL5500 to SL5600.  I have updated the SL5500 ROM.

This raises some other interesting questions.

When I installed the SL5600 software on my PC it apparently wrote over the SL5500 data.  Consequently, I can no longer attach the SL 5500 to the PC.  Is there some way to allow both units to be able to "share" a single PC?

Sure.  If you have a WiFi or network card you can sync with Qtopia Desktop 1.7 through the network.  Just set your connection method in Qtopia Desktop to LAN and supply an IP address.  You should then be able to sync pretty easily with all of your Zauri.

Qtopia Desktop 1.7 does not work with the 5600. You can only use the version of Qtopia desktop that Sharp supplies with the 5600.

When I upgraded to my 5600, all I had to do was sync my 5500 one last time, install the 5600 Windows software and then sync my 5600. Installing the 5600 software on my PC did not overwrite of my data.

I think there was even a document over at zaurus.com detailing this, before DevNet got shut down. Does anyone have a copy? I might have a copy at home. You should be able to go back to the 5500 PC software so you can sync all your data back again.

Hmm.. Probably a dumb question, but does Qtopia Desktop 1.7 work with the SL6000L?  Are there any solutions with syncing a 6000L if all you run is Linux?
