Title: KDE/PIM sync with Sony Ericsson P900
Post by: bazmi on October 25, 2004, 07:54:33 am
i am trying to do a sync between KDE/PIM 1.9.10 and my sony ericsson p900 via an ir link. the sync is set yo to use device /dev/ircomm and connection to 'irdaat'  when i try to execute the operation i get a pop up window saying "error accessing device! Please turn on connection and retry!"

the beam recv is set to on and the phone ir is also on. both devices are aligned.

what am i doing wrong?

thanks a lot

I can confirm, that the syncing works for my Nokia6310i via infrared.

Please read the Gammu documentation, I can not help find out the right connection  or if your phone is supported at all.

I believe, that the connection
irdaat is not implemented at all.

You should use at19200 instead.

Ten run from the console

kammu --identify

And even if kammu identifies your phone it does not mean, that syncing will work.

There seems to be bugs in libgammu, unfortunately.

I will look at the whole "phone access" problem later and write some documentation, what may work or what is not working.

But this will take some time...

well, i got the thing working in a round about manner.

1. the ir link between the phone and my laptop worked just fine (selected irdaat and that seemed to work well).

2. i then used pi-sync between the laptop and 6000.

so now i have at least my laptop (running xp), sony ericsson p900 and z6000 all having the same address and calendar. and my phone is also synced to my lotus notes calendar so this is a great improvement of the situation. some irritants:

1. the sync between phone and laptop works only in one direction - changes to the phone come across to the notebook but changes in laptop dont get transferred across even though the summary after sync shows that items have changed in 'remote' perhaps the file is not being sent across.

2. ko/pi on linux desktop (suse 9.1) works ok. but ka/pi doesnt get data from the z after the sync. the file transfer back only send 4k and then aborts. but the message shows 'pi-sync' successful.

but i am sure these problems will get sorted out.

i must complement you on this great initiative. platform independent syncing is a killer idea. keep up the good work. it is miles ahead of any thing else.

cheers,
