Hey, there is an auction on eBay right now labeled "Compact Flash size WiFi Cards 802.11b/g". Does anyone know anything about this card (e.g. Does it work on the zaurus, What kind of power usage, what kind of speeds, what is it's range, etc.)? Thanks a lot.
P.S. Please don't bid against me on this... I really need it for that price. Thanks.

Could you provide a link? I promise not to bid against you , but I couldn't find the auction.

Nikem: it's ended now, so you would have to search under completed items. But here is the link:

P.S. I didn't even bid on it, because of the lack of description/condition. I would still like to know about it, though. I couldn't find anything useful about it on google, either.

The chip in the picture clearly says "Agere" who make the Hermes chipsets (http://www.wlug.org.nz/HermesWirelessChipset). If it's really 802.11g then it's probably a Hermes2. You probably wouldn't have much trouble with it in theory, but I would stay well clear of anyone who sells a card that looks like that! It's obviously been taken apart but what's with the piece on the right of the picture? Were they trying to make an external antenna out of the case, a piece of single-core unshielded wire and some dodgy soldering??

I don't think anybody makes a 802.11g cf card yet. G range at full speed is less than B and with such a small antenna I don't think you'd get much out of it. It would drop to B speed pretty quick.

Well, apparently the one bidder didn't come through, so here is this guy selling this same thing again.
Should I get it?
Looks kinda sketchy to me....

They exist, just being tested at the moment. Give it until after the holidays and they'll start popping up everywhere.
