Title: 2.6 kernel, udev, and zaurus
Post by: Guest_Chris on November 08, 2004, 06:26:55 pm
trying to get my new sharp zaurus sl-6000l to sync with my gentoo-linux based computer.  the gentoo docs tell me to use patches to the 2.4 kernel which no longer exist.  further i'm supposed to path 2.4.x where 2.4.x is my current kernel version (2.6.9).

then it talks about devfsd and such, which i'm not using.

any help?

With 2.6.x kernels you don't need to do any patching - everything you need is already in the kernel.

The settings you want are in the usb section of the kernel config.

I've been connecting my Z to my gentoo box for over a year now, all I ever did was compile the kernel, make an alias for usbnet to usb0 in /etc/modules.d/aliases and plug in the Z.

Make sure your Z is set to USB TCP/IP before you plug it in (otherwise you'll get an error whe you change)

hmm, ok now it seems like they see each other, not sure what to do from here in terms of not sure what i want to do.

i had to find the usb mullti-protocol netwokring opiton and recomplie the kernel.

I suggest install ssh, that way you can sync with ko/pi and copy files between your gentoo desktop and zaurus (as well as log onto the Z and edit text fiels etc using your desktop keyboard)
