I just bought a Sharp Zaurus SL-C3000 to replace my SL-C860. It is a great pocket computer, but there is a catch: no Java runtime, neither by default or on the "optional packages" CDROM.
Since I use Java a lot, I was taken by surprise, since I didn't imagine Sharp would do such a mistake, and after a little while I managed to get Java on the SL-C3000.
I explain how in this howto page (http://augustin.vidovic.org/pages/java_on_zaurus_sl_c3000/index.html).
It just works. I still don't understand why Sharp did that, but it can be fixed.

How did you get a C3000 so quickly?? /me jealous
Have you tested any USB devices with it?

Probably Sharp didn't want to pay the Sun-tax.

Thanks for testing it out. sl-c3000 is back on my shopping list...I also have a java japanese flashcard app I need to run! (not as polished as yours, but it does what I want...)

Any reason why you have a packet of aspirin in easy reach of your shiny new Z?

Vido,
How about posting your impressions of the SL-C3K and compare/contrast it with the 860. I really want to know if video playback is much improved with the new processor.

Nice. I was thinking along these lines for the Netfront browser, but in reverse: creating an ipk from the C3000 to install Netfront 3.1 on the CXX0 Zaurus.
Any gracious C3000 owner willing to give this a try?

Awesome! Erm.. yeh, waiting for my 3000 right now, and I would have been very annoyed to find out there's no java runtime - having enough troubles finding software for it as it is ...

Don't let this link die. Thank you soooooooooooo much

After I loaded Opera 7.30 I had to load this ipk again. But now I can look at javascript on my browser (^-^)
