Title: Flashing Problem
Post by: MonkeyMuffins on November 14, 2004, 09:53:58 am
I am having a problem with flashing. If I flash my sl-5500 with an OZ rom, the lights come on like it is flashing but it will not boot up. Sometimes the power light just sets there and flashes after I try to reboot.  If I try to flash it with the Sharp ospack, it comes up with an error saying that it needs the maitence password or hit ctrl-d. Anyone have any ideas?  Any help would be greatly appreceated

Check your spelling and remember that Linux is case sensitive.
For OZ it's
initrd.bin and zImage
For Sharp it's
Ospack

You probably need to hit the hard reset button (inside the battery compartment).

I have checked my spelling.  I have checked the case.  Both are right.  I have flased and hit the hard reset in the battery compartment and that is when I get the problem.

I flash it with different roms and it acts like it is going through but when I hit the hard reboot and then try to turn it on, nothing happens.  No power light or anything.

Check that you are following the instructions here:

Can you reformat the CF card in a card reader or camera to FAT16 to be positive it's not the card file system?

That and/or taking out the battery for 24 hours seems to have worked.
Thank you all.
