Title: What is 'bootstrap-image'?
Post by: radioz on November 21, 2004, 02:39:24 am
I'm looking at the 3.5.1 download site and am trying to figure out what files I need to download into my 5600 to install OZ.
I see: zImage.bin, initrd.sh, opie-image.rootfs.img and a file called bootstrap-image.rootfs.img.

I thought I should just need the first three files. What is the bootstrap img file for?

The bootstrap image contains no GUI - it's just a single user terminal environment.

Opie is the one you probably want which is similar to Qtopia as used on the Sharp ROMs (GPE is another option if it's there; it's an X11 based environment on top of OZ).

Ok, thanks. I kind of thought that might be the case, but was not sure.

I think I'll give 3.5.1. a try.
