Ok guys, I'm sold. I am going to buy a C860. Now the question is where should I look to purchase one? Anyone have any good stories / horror stories on vendors? I was thinking about Japan-Direct.com... They have a decent price, but I am concerned about obtaining a decent warranty. What do you guys think? Whats the dirt on vendors?

Bought from pricejapan.com based on price. I was a little careful and used buyer protection when I paid via paypal (an extra 20-30 dollars), but I haven't heard of anyone having a bad experience with them. Also, they seem to be fairly well respected in the high end a/v market, so they're not just zaurus people. They have forwarding service for the warranty (1 year), but I haven't had opportunity to try it yet.
Brett at conics.net has been known to be very helpful and reasonably priced, and dynamism offers full service (phone support, free repair shipping) at a premium (but I found they will negotiate a little).
If you have more questions just ask.

pricejapan.com is great. The owner stays in contact, provides shipping information and addresses concerns quickly. Also (hopefully no borderpatrol listening) he de-values the item so the import taxes (if you do get hit) are nothing.
I definately recommend them.

I ordered an 860 from Brett at conics.net just a month or 2 ago, and it went very smoothly. He wasn't rapid in replying to emails, but from this forum he has a very good reputation, as I recall. I thought he was a good balance between fair price and fair service. He wasn't the cheapest, but I knew who I was going to be dealing with. He also was much cheaper than dynamism. I would recommend him to anybody.

Like mgrab, I've bought several Z's and accessories from Brett at Conics.net including my recent C3000.
I've always had very good service from him and fair pricing. So I'd recommend him highly.

Another one going for Brett. I bought my C860 from him about a year ago and was pretty happy with the service.
His schedule certainly doesn't allow him to reply to mails on a daily basis, but he does at some point reply them. He keeps his word. I'll definitely propose doing business with him.

there's a bit of risk in devaluing the item to below the price the dealer pays, in that customs and excise can look at the shipping insurance, or the shipper will only pay for the value declared to C&E.
a good seller could thus set the price to perhaps *his* cost of replacing the item, minus the spares value of a broken zaurus (chances of severe damage might be much higher than the item going missing).
